[Baldwin Park] – I sat down with new Baldwin Park quarterback Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson who is coming over from Upland after having a solid season with 1,913 yards, 18 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
Jackson led the Scots to the quarter finals after having three touchdown passes against Los Altos in round one. He joins a Braves team that was a play away from a CIF championship.
Q: What’s up kid, how’s it going?
A: Hey what’s up George.
Q: How does it feel to jump into the SGV and be one of the most talked about QBs?
A: I’m definitely excited to be able to be a part of the SGV and definitely ready to compete with some of the other guys in the area. To be one of the most talked about QBs, is something I can’t let get to my head. Whether it’s hate or if it’s love. I got to keep my head straight and show them I’m here to put in work and get better and win some games.
Q: Do you play any other sports throughout the year?
A: I really don’t play any other sports, but I used to play when I was younger and I also ran track my first 2 years at Upland.
Q: Who do you model your game after?
A: I would say kind of like a college version of Cam Newton. Being able to move around the pocket and deliver a strike but also able the ability to run and pick up the first down if needed.
Q: How would your teammates and coaches describe you?
A: If my teammates and coaches would describe me it will be big and strong and a hard worker.
Q: If you could play any other position for one drive, what would it be?
A: I wouldn’t want to play any other position really but if you need a quick little receiver action I got you.
Q: What is the biggest lesson you have learned from football so far?

A: The biggest lesson I’ve learned from football is that one play doesn’t define who you are as a player or a person.
Q: How do you handle the pressure of playing in high-stakes games?
A: I handle the pressure from high stakes games by trusting in my coaches to call the right plays and trusting my teammates to do what they need to do and trusting my performance to help the team be the best we can be.
Q: The question most people want to know, how did you end up at Baldwin Park from Upland?
A: I ended up at Baldwin Park because I saw the type of season the quarterback had last season and that’s the type of season I need if I wanted to play at the next level and I’m not sure I would’ve been able to do that with Upland.
Q: Anything else you would like to say or want us to know?
A: I want to thank God and my family and friends that have believed in me all the way up to this point in my life. When you understand that God is never late you wait differently. I also want to thank you George for allowing me to do this interview.
