1. Todd Frazier (Cincinnati Reds) became only the second hitter to win the Home Run Derby in front of his home crowd. Ryne Sandberg (Chicago Cubs) was the first in 1990.

2. US National Team advances to the quarterfinals after a tie with Panama in the final game of Group A play. Surprise of the group Haiti advances after win over Honduras.

3. Los Angeles Angels are 15-5 since June 18th. Have not lost consecutive games since June 21st.

4. Zach Greinke named starting pitcher for NL All-Stars. First Dodger to start All-Star game since 2006, Brad Penny.

5. Joc Pederson defeats Albert Pujols in HR Derby semi-finals. Lost to Frazier in the Finals.

6. Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team is 1-2 and has yet to crack 70 points in its three games.

7. 2014 Kentucky Derby Winner California Chrome has been shelved for the next six months. Speculation is that he will be retired at the end of the year.

8. Must buy, “The Best Team Money Can Buy” by Molly Knight

9. On this day in 1951, 1st color telecast of a sporting event. It was the Molly Pitcher Stakes at Monmouth Park. Won by Marta and trained by Woody Stephens.
