“I’m much more comfortable criticizing people behind their backs.”

 — George Costanza

Good Morning!

I’m not anti-basketball, its just hard to get into something most of the schools are not into.

There are pockets of great interest and success, but for the most part schools treat basketball as an annoyance instead of an opportunity. So its hard to embrace something without passion when you’ve been covering something so passionate like football for so long.

I’ve been told if we treated basketball like we do football there would be passion. My response back is we don’t have that kind of power. Also trying to generate interest in a prep sport most (only most I say) schools are not interested themselves in, is impossible.

Every try helping someone who doesn’t want to be helped?

This is why I love the Charter Oak pic in today’s story…The moment, following the Chargers championship win on Friday over Diamond Ranch, wasn’t created there…it began most likely the first day after Christmas vacation when most football programs are back in the weight room.

With all that said they are playing pretty good ball up in La Canada under Tamar Hill…

As people describe former Monrovia star and current Bishop Amat “sixth man” Gina Henderson they use the expression; “She plays like a guy.”

I understand the complement but a great talent shouldn’t have to be compared to a guy (yeah, I’m Mr. Wonderful today). Instead why don’t we say; “That long cool woman has it all…”

Note to Mike Gorball: It has come to our attention you feel that you don’t have a face for video… Have you seen our mugs? Please, come on the show…but leave the tie on the sidelines…

As the fan of a 1-12 team, who should be in the market for a less shell-shocked quarterback, I’m glad Washington’s Jake Locker has decided to stay in school.

He’ll improve his game, play for a really good Huskie team, and if he remains healthy will be an out of this world prospect in 2011… He just needs to be sure and take out the insurance policy with Lloyds of London.

Last Add Gina Henderson: Did you know her brother is Monrovia football’s Jay Henderson?

Blair is looking for a girls basketball coach; Andre Collins is out…

In the “Lil Help” Department:

So I’m driving to the store with my teenage daughter…a boring Christmas song comes on—I don’t know someone doing a new turn on Frosty—so while we’re driving and talking I flip it to Jack FM… So far so good… The Vapors are on, feeling my youth for a moment I start smiling…Then I start laughing… Daughter begins to think I’ve tilted or something.

“Why are you laughing?” She asks.

I don’t answer. Then she asks the killer;

“What does it mean when they say; ‘I’m turning Japanese’?”

I’m clammed up…or do you think I should have said something?

Stay thirsty my friends…
