The Wilson Wildcats were no match for the visiting Los Altos Conquerors, as the Conquerors beat the Wildcats, 47-7, Friday evening at Dave Merrill Stadium.
Los Altos utilized a “quick strike” offense, scoring on three separate one play possessions. While the night belonged to Los Altos, the game belonged to
Tyler Nevens, who ran for touchdowns of 14, 40, and 60 yards, while catching a touchdown pass of 26 yards. Nevens finished the evening with 8 carries for 154 yards, and four touchdowns…while playing in only the first half of the contest.
Defensively, the Conquerors feasted on an abundance of Wilson turnovers. Linebacker Andrew Orozco recovered two Wildcat fumbles. and not to be left out, DL Jayson Jones got one.
Linebacker Joey Miner, DL Kiel Caal, and DL Arturo Vargas recovered a Wilson fumble. The final Wilson turnover, an interception, was added by DB Robert Ramirez.
The game began with the Wildcats losing starting quarterback Joe Figueroa. Figueroa suffered a wrist injury on the second play of the game, and did not return to the contest.
The Wildcats avoided a shutout when, with 4:25 remaining in the game, replacement QB Jonathan Gonzales scored on a 75 yard TD run.
