Cathedral Quadruples Up On Salesian

(South Los Angeles) The Cathedral Phantoms and the Salesian Mustangs traveled south to L.A. Southwest College to do battle in the annual rivalry game. The Phantoms took control early and went on to win 28-7 Friday night and improve their r

Cathedral got the party started with 4:24 left in the first quarter when Marcos Lopez scored on a 13 yard run.

The Phantoms went up 14-0 when Andrew Tovar hit Renard Bell from 17 yards out with 8:46 left in the second quarter.

The Mustang defense stiffened and held Cathedral scorless for the rest of the first half.

Salesian cut the lead in half early in the the third quarter. Deommodore Lenoir took the hand off from Robbie Blosser and got to the edge for a 12 yard scoring run.

That’s as close as Salesian would get as the Phantoms went on to score two more times on passes from Tovar to Arex Flemmings and a spectacular catch by Jamire Calvin.

Next week Cathedral goes on the road to face St. Francis while Salesian is also on the road to take on St. Paul.
