(La Canada) – St. Francis lost two weeks ago to Salesian in double overtime. Last week the Golden Knights fell to Harvard-Westlake on a last second pass as time ran out. Friday night they got a first place Cathedral team that was undefeated after seven weeks coming in. A loss here and St. Francis might as well make plans for next year. Instead the Golden Knight turned the tables, got off the floor and knocked off Cathedral 31-14 Friday night at Friedman Field.
Tied at 14 in the third quarter Jasher Foster made the game turning play when he fielded a punt at his own seven yard line broke a couple of tackles and outran the Cathedral coverage 93 yards for a touchdown. Just like that it was 21-14 and the Golden Knights never looked back.
The St. Francis D stopped the Phantoms on the next three possessions forcing a punt and then stopping two fourth down conversions.
The Golden Knights then iced it with a late touchdown in the fourth quarter when Foster got loose again. Running out of the wildcat, he broke a tackle at the goal and went through the Cathedral defense for a 19 yard scoring jaunt.
Cathedral scored both of its touchdowns in the first quarter and jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one. But The Golden Knights shut out the Phantoms the rest of the way.
St. Francis tied it on a three-yard run by Jace Harrick and two point conversion pass from Miles Bryant to Daniel Scott. The TD was set up by a 71-yard pass from Bryant to Scott.
St. Francis then went on a 17-0 second half run.
