Friday October 30
Angelus League
Cathedral (7-1, 2-1) at Harvard-Westlake (6-2, 3-0)
Reports are that Cathedral is back at full strength. Others say that the investigation is still pending. Either way the Phantoms should be ready. If they win out, they can still win league and that’s their focus right now. Phantoms bounce back with win over Wolves.
Cathedral 27 Harvard-Westlake 24
St. Paul (5-3, 2-1) at St. Francis (5-3, 1-2)
The Golden Knights got the momentum they needed by taking care of Cathedral. It would be hard to believe that they would let that win go to waste by stumbling against St. Paul. Jasher Foster could get loose again. St. Francis comes out on top.
St. Francis 35 St. Paul 17
Del Rio League
La Serna (6-2, 3-0) vs. Santa Fe (4-4, 3-0) at Pioneer
Don’t look now but Santa Fe is 3-0 in league. A win here would lock up the Del Rio League title. It will be locked up all right but by La Serna. The Lancers are running through the Del Rio like a hot knife through butter. They racked up 64 last week in a rout of Cal. La Serna goes to 4-0.
La Serna 42 Santa Fe 10
San Gabriel Valley League
Warren (7-1, 3-0) at Dominguez (5-3, 2-1)
The Bears proved their mettle last week with a win over Downey. Ok I was wrong. I believe in the Bears. Dominguez can still make the playoffs but the Dons look like the third place team in the SGV. Warren is on its way to a league crown. Warren wins.
Warren 24 Dominguez 14
Downey (4-4, 2-1) at Gahr (3-5, 1-2)
Despite the loss last week to Warren, the Vikes still feel they are one of the best teams in the Southeast. That defeat just made them mad. Now they take it out on Gahr. The Vikings get a jump early and never look back.
Downey 38 Gahr 6
Suburban League
Mayfair (7-2, 5-0) at La Mirada (5-3, 4-0)
This game is for the league title. Both teams are undefeated coming in and neither one has been tested. Mayfair has been somewhat of a surprise as it cruises through the Suburban. The Monsoons will hit a roadblock here. The Matadores are too big and too bad. Mike Moschetti’s crew wins in a rout.
La Mirada 31 Mayfair 7
Pacific League
Crescenta Valley (6-2, 4-1) at Burroughs (7-1, 5-0)
The scuttlebutt around the Pacific is that this is for the league crown. It could be although Burbank still might have something to say about that considering he Bulldogs beat CV. Like Burroughs-Arcadia there should be plenty of points put up. Both teams can be explosive. The Falcons hang around all night and they might even have a late lead. But when it’s crunch time, Burroughs comes through. Chance Bell and company get it done.
Burroughs 34 Crescenta Valley 27
Thursday October 29
Pasadena (4-4, 2-3) at Burbank (6-2, 4-1) at Burroughs
Burbank has its eyes on Burroughs next week, but the Bulldogs have Pasadena to take care of first. They will come to play Friday night. Pasadena beat up on the cellar dwellers- Hoover, Glendale, but got beat up by the big boys- Burroughs, Arcadia. Burbank is another big boy that can throw a punch. The Bulldogs knock Pasadena out early.
Burbank 41 Pasadena 13
