(Covina) – San Dimas jumped out to a 28-0 lead and rolled to a 42-0 rout of Covina Friday night at Covina Valley District Field

The Saints scored on their first two possessions of the game and needed only two plays on their first series to find the end zone. Jarell Sykes took a hand off and went 67 yards for a touchdown on the second play of scrimmage to give the Saints a 7-0 lead.

On their second drive they marched 78 yards on 11 plays with Dominic Cortez going in from two yards out. Joey Tamayo hit Edward Siapno for a 25-yard strike down to the Colt 19-yard line to set up the score.

Down 21-0 late in the second half, Covina committed a costly turnover. Andrew Apodaca was hit and the ball popped loose setting up the Saints at the Colt 36. Four plays later, Cortez scored again- this time on five yard pass from Tamayo to make it 28-0. There was still a half to play but when Cortez danced into the end zone it was game-set match.
