(La Canada) — St. Francis’ wideout Jasher Foster caught six passes for 115 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Golden Knights’ 24-7 homecoming win over St. Paul Friday night at Friedman Field.

“I’m glad that we got a good team victory,” said Foster. “I’m glad that I was able to contribute.”

On the game’s opening kickoff St. Paul’s Nick Redick fumbled the ball on a reverse handoff at the eight yard line. It was recovered by St. Francis, and four plays later, on fourth and short, Jace Harrick bulldozed his way in for six.

The Swordsmen answered on the ensuing drive. They took eight plays to march down field before Armando Velasco cashed in from two-yards out to tie the game at seven with 6:54 left in the first.

Midway through the second quarter, Golden Knight’s quarterback Miles Bryant hooked up with Foster, running a post, on a 35-yard touchdown pass. The two hooked up again on the same post play with less than a minute to go in the first half, and St. Franks went into intermission up 21-7 on St. Paul.

Following a scoreless third quarter the Golden Knights added a 28-yard field goal by Matt Bazareitsch to start of the fourth.

Down, 24-7, St. Paul tried to answer back on its next drive but Joe Hernandez was picked off by Harrick to seal the win for St. Francis.

“We’re just happy to get out of here with a win,” said St. Franks coach Jim Bonds. “I was really happy with our defensive performance.”
