There was a quite a buzz at Marinelli Stadium Friday night. It was again Rosemead-Arroyo, Panthers- Knights, and of course for the Mission Valley League title.

Both sides were packed and loud…when Arroyo scored the Knight faithful would serenade chants of “Why so quiet?” When Rosemead responded it would simply be “Rosemead! Rosemead!”

Before the game the line to get in appeared to be a half a mile long. “I have been coaching football for 23 years (22 at Arroyo) and I have never been in an environment like last night. Walking off the field pre-game the line to get into the stands stretched across the basketball courts, along the building and out into the courtyard in front of the cafeteria. It seriously looked like the shuttle bus line to get out of the Rose Bowl after a Bruin game,” said Arroyo HC Jim Singiser.

The alumni came out in full force as well. Heck, even former Arroyo center/assistant Kenny Andrew was there. The Knights jumped out early, weathered a couple of storms and ultimately won 38-21 to capture the MVL Crown. Here’s a few more shots.
