- On this day in 1984, Wild Again won the first running of the Breeder’s Cup Classic beating Slew O’Gold and Gate Dancer in a dramatic stretch drive. Slew O’Gold was the favorite in the race while Wild Again was 31-1. The First Breeder’s Cup was held at Hollywood Park.
