(Covina) — Northview’s Steven Comstock tallied 424-total yards and scored five touchdowns in the Vikings’ 48-17 first round CIF Southern Section win over Rosemead Friday night at Covina District field.

Early in the game, the Panther defense forced the Vikings to punt on back to back offensive series. It wasn’t until Andres Hooper reached the end zone on a 30-yard run to break the ice with 3:13 left in the first quarter.

Rosemead responded back with a 12-play drive of its own that was capped off by a Jesus Renteria 29-yard field goal.

Northview continued to use the ground game and scored on back to back offensive drives. Both marches finished with Comstock crossing the goal line. His first score came on three yard keeper and his second was an 85-yard dash in the second quarter.
The Panthers managed to squeak in a touchdown before halftime when Steven Nava hooked up with Darien Camacho on a 3-yard out route. The Vikings were up 21-10 at the break.
Following the break, Comstock continued to find ways to score for his team. The quarterback was responsible for three of Northview’s four second half touchdowns.
Comstock scrambled for an 74-yard run at the start of the quarter and then connected with Elijah Grijalva and Bryan Robles late in the game. Hooper added his second rushing score of the night midway through the fourth quarter.
Rosemead was able to add a Nava touchdown pass later in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 48-17.
