1. Super Bowl 50 will showcase the Denver Broncos vs. the Carolina Panthers at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, CA February 7th.
2. The APU Cougars men’s basketball team has won eight straight and are atop the PacWest Conference at 9-1 in conference 15-3 overall.
3. Peyton Manning was 17 of 32 for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos AFC Championship win over the Patriots.
4. The New York Mets re-sign Yoenis Cespedes to a three-year $75 million contract.
5. South El Monte’s Kimberly Urbina leads the Mission Valley League in points (16.0), rebounds (9.9), assists (5.6) and steals (5.0) for the 16-4, 6-0 Eagles.
6. West Covina’s Jacob Acosta leads the Hacienda League in scoring at 20.8 ppg.
7. Cam Newton connected on 19 of 28 passes for 335 yards and two touchdowns and added two rushing touchdowns in the Panthers NFC Championship win over the Cardinals.
8. On this day in 1987 the New York Giants beat the Denver Broncos 39-20 in Super Bowl XXI.
9. In their first season under new head coach Marcus Bryan, the Glendora Tartans are 10-11 and 1-3 in the Palomares League.
