An unassuming sportswriter in the San Gabriel Valley (northeast of downtown Los Angeles) has written the new ‘coming-of-age’ novel for the third millennium: “Tangent Dreams.”

The reader gets inside the head of Dale Andrade as he becomes involved…deeply committed to football…emotionally involved with another player’s girl…increasingly detached from his family…and then the triumph of clarity of the importance of “the real things in life” at the end.

It starts off slowly, moves into team bonds, skyrockets into thrilling ‘on-the-field’ achievements, and then the ripping, tearing, disappointments that follow the almost-realization of his new dreams. And the carefully crafted depiction of emotional maturity of a fine young man as he comes through pain, victory, defeat, and the subversion of his own ego…into manhood.

What had only been peripheral swings into center-vision, and while almost loses his footing…he doesn’t. There is peace.

Read “Tangent Dreams” and be carried along by Joe Torosian’s amazing writing abilities. And when you reach the end of this landmark novel, read who ‘Joe T.’ is on the last page. I think you’ll understand by that point that only one with his finger in so many pies could’ve written this novel. But I, personally, am still working to comprehend the talent that brought it all together in this deeply impressive, finely wrought tale of an inner, and outer, ‘real world’ on the pages of a book.
