Beatrice: “Come now, you wouldn’t say no to a lady?”
Kornblow: “I don’t know why not, they always say no to me.”

Kick it!

Right off the Top: Upon my “Quick Pitch” review…Ross Stripling was running out of gas. No need to bash Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for pulling him…with a no-hitter in play.

…The Time Warner Curse in full effect.

Speaking of curses…Chicago Cubs fans? What is going through your heads regarding Kyle Schwarber’s injury?

“The “Utley Rule” is proving to be an absolute disaster.”—Tim Peterson

I remember a couple of years ago when the Buster Posey Rule was brought in…I complained in my column, I complained on “The Joe Show”, I complained on Facebook…I said, “What happens to plays at second base and the in the neighborhood calls that have been part of the game forever?”

I said they were going to start reviewing plays at second and that it was a bad decision.

I was told by the Alphas of baseball fandom that I was wrong. It would never happen. I was told, essentially, that I was bloodthirsty because I thought the Posey Rule was bad and that it wouldn’t lead to other things.

I’m not looking for a Nostradamus laurel to lay upon my head…but the door was open, the slippery slope has slid, and now there is no going back.

Until it happens to the Mets…I don’t care. But know this…Within a decade the MLB Umpire will be as rare as the old radio disc jockey. Balls & Strikes…Balls & Strikes…Balls & Strikes…determined by a sensor…because everything has to be safe and fair.

So the night before my fantasy draft I consulted “ThoseBenchWarmers” …(MLB service & info provided by “Temple City’s 3 Tenors: Riley Saxon, Derek Cheng, and that Other Guy.” Follow them @warming_benches)…And they recommended Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story.

We saw Story in Cactus League play and he looked great…Then again so did Daniel Nava. I didn’t draft him…and now you know…The Rest of The Story (six home runs in the seasons first five days).

From the Dodgers end…doesn’t it just continue to be absurd that they would continue in an agreement where half of their base is unable to see them play?

For a while when it was raining in San Francisco…I was laughing at the possible irony of a Dodgers national telecast not being blacked out but postponed because of rain.

Midbits (same as ‘Tidbits’)

Midbits: I know some disappointed Giants fans because the club gave Brandon Belt a five-year extension.

Midbits: Carl Crawford goes on the Disabled List like premium card holders go to Disneyland…As often as he can.

Midbits: Good roll of the dice by the New York Jets in trading a seventh-round pick to the Denver Broncos for Ryan Clady.

Midbits: I have three blue embers still burning: Vin Scully, Dodger Stadium, and Clayton Kershaw…Great pitcher, better person, he is so easy to root for. Always want to see Kershaw do well.

Midbits: Is Chase Utley a Hall of Famer?
