Chase Newman of La Mirada has received his eighth offer from Oregon State

(La Mirada) – La Mirada linebacker Chase Newman has been offered by Oregon State Matadore HC Mike Moschetti confirmed Saturday.

The 6-2, 210 pound Newman, who had 77 total tackles last year as a junior, has received 8 offers so far.

Oregon State has also extended offers to DB Elijah Hicks and TE Sire Woods. Hicks and Woods have also received multiple D1 offers.

La Mirada won the Southeast Division championship as well as the State championship in 2015.

    1st round exits in 2013 and 2014 didn’t seem to hurt them any when it came to offers. or winning CIF and State. They have 10 guys playing at the next level (not including JC guys) next season. And with 6 underclassmen with offers they have already reloaded and replaced what they have lost.

    Sounds like sour grapes on your part.

    This is splendid news, and I certainly hope CIF’s new equitable-rating division scheme won’t cause the Mats to revert to the first-round exit syndrome. If that dark cloud materializes, the number of D-1 offers will decline in favor of vanity scholarships, which wind-up costing parents more in housing than would attendance at local colleges.
