(Temple City) – Monrovia’s Isaiah Ramos pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine batters and giving up six hits in the Wildcats 1-0 win over the Temple City Rams, Wednesday afternoon at Temple City High School.
At the top of the fourth inning, Monrovia snapped Tyler Hazlet’s no-hit bid when Gabriel Arellano singled up the middle to reach base. Two pitches later, Arellano stole second. He then was successful again when he stole third on the following the next pitch. Two batters later, Arellano scored on the Ben Goettling sacrifice.
The Rams had chances to score runs throughout the game, however Ramos was able to get out of every jam. In the bottom of the first inning after letting the bases get loaded he was able to retire the final two batters to end the inning. Then in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners at second and third base, with two outs, Ramos struck out Erik Lewis avoiding extra innings.
Hazlet also finished the game for the Rams striking out 10 Wildcats and giving up one run.
