1.) “The boys and I have been working hard to make this dream happen. The deadline is very close and all we need is $2000 to make this a reality. Thank you to everyone that has helped out.”—Former El Monte HC Joel Sanchez on Edward Dominguez and Roy Barajas who have been selected to play in the “Down Under Bowl” in Australia this June. They’ve been raising funds to cover their expenses since January. If you would like to help contact Sanchez at El Monte High School.

2.) Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the New York Mets, 5-0, on Clayton Kershaw’s 3-hit, 13-k, complete game shutout. He’s now 5-1 with a 1.74 ERA.

3.) Former Dodger reliever Joe Beimel signs minor league contract with Miami Marlins.

4.) North-South All Star game at Citrus College, tonight (7:PM)…Mark Holman (San Dimas) coaches the North & Pete Gonzalez (Montebello) coaches the South.

5.) Former Rosemead Panthers quarterback Sergio Romo turns 33. Romo started for Matt Koffler’s 2000 team.
