1. Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw has a strikeout to walk ratio of 22-1 (88 strikeouts, 4 walks.) Kershaw has also struck out at least 10 batters in six consecutive games -a franchise record.

2. Roughned Odor was suspended for eight games and fined $5000.00 by MLB for punching Toronto’s Jose Bautista.

3. The USC-Alabama game on September 3 will be prime time with kick off set for 5:00 PDT on ABC. USC and Alabama haven’t played since 1985.

4. The Los Angeles Rams signed defensive tackle Dominique Easley who was released by the New England Patriots last month.

5. Whittier Christian beats Beaumont 4-2 in Division 5 Wild Card game Wednesday. Other scores: Lompoc 7 Azusa 2, Segerstrom 2 Los Altos 1, Wilson 4 Palmdale 2.

6. Angels’ pitcher Jered Weaver’s fastball topped out at 83 mph against the Dodgers Tuesday night.
