THE TEN (NEW)

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1. The Dodgers take two of three games from the Mets in New York to remain four games back of the Giants.

2. Behind Klay Thompson’s 41 points including a NBA Playoff record 11 three pointers, the Warriors beat the Thunder 108-101 and force a game seven tonight in Oakland.

3. The LA Galaxy lost only their second game of the season falling to Montreal 3-2 Saturday evening.

4. Montebello knocked off El Rancho 4-2 last Friday to advance to the semi-finals of the CIF Divsion 4 Baseball Championships.

5. Chicago Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers turns 68 today.

6. The U.S. Men’s National Soccer knocked off Boliva 4-0 in their final Copa America warm-up. In the game the Galaxy’s Gyasi Zardes scored two goals and 17-year old Christian Pulisic scored to make him the youngest goal scorer in the modern era.

7. When the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw struck out his fifth batter Sunday night against the Mets, it gave him 100 strikeouts with just five walks. It is the first time in modern history that a pitcher has reached the 100-strikeout plateau with only five walks.

8. On this day in 1948, Schenectady Blue Jay Tommy Lasorda struck out 25 in a 15 inning game.

"Anyone who has a kid trying out for his High School football team needs to read this book. Torosian has taken his 20 some years of reporting on Prep sports, mixed a healthy dose of San Gabriel Valley insider references and created a very readable first effort." "A page turner...I'm sorry it's over! Is a sequel in the works?" "Torosian does for high school football what Hemingway did for the Spanish Civil War...compelling look beyond the scoreboard and into the lives of players..." "A truly great story unfolds in the pages of Joe Torosian's first novel. With high school football at its core, the story of Dale Andrade shows how a young man grows in all aspects of his life thanks to being a part of a team and a football community." “This is a great read for everyone: from those who love high school football to those who have no idea about the game.” "This book brings you onto the field and into the locker room..."
