1. Augie Garrido, the winningest coach in college baseball history, is out after 20 seasons at Texas. Garrido had 1,975 victories dating back to 1969. He won five College World Series titles, three with Cal State Fullerton and two with Texas.

2. Corey Seager belts a three-run home run as the Dodgers blank the Cubs 5-0. Even though Jake Arrieta didn’t get the loss, it’s the first time the Cubs have a lost a game that  Arrieta started since July 2015 – 23 straight.

3. Former West Covina/Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Walter Thurmond retired from the NFL after six seasons. Thurmond spent four years with the Seattle Seahawks, one with the New York Giants and last year with Philadelphia. Thurmond went to Oregon after graduating from West Covina.

4. The Dodgers recall Julio Urias from the minor leagues to replace lefthander Alex Wood who was put on the disabled list with left elbow soreness.

6. Sacramento Kings guard Darren Collison was arrested Monday on a domestic violence charge in Northern California.

7. Montebello falls to Kaiser 11-1 in the CIF Division 4 semi finals.

8. The Golden State Warriors open in Las Vegas as clear favorites over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

9. On this day in 1975 the Angels’ Nolan Ryan fires his fourth no hitter in a 1-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

10. Happy Birthday to the Lakers’ Nick “Swaggy P” Young who turns 31 today.
