1. Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals hit home runs to lead the AL to a 4-2 win over the NL in the MLB All-Star game. Hosmer is named MVP.

2. Angels first baseman C.J. Cron underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a broken bone in his left hand. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

3. The Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA are 18-1.

4. Mike Trout, 24, who made his Major League debut with the Angels in July 2011, has yet to win a playoff game. At the same age Mickey Mantle had already won 19 post season games.
