1. USC’s Adoree Jackson finished 10th at the U.S Olympic trials in his bid for a long jumper. He is back full time with the football team but is hoping for a shot on the 2020 Olympic team.

2. Laker forward Larry Nance Jr. suffered a “probable” break of his right hand in a summer league defeat to Cleveland. He will meet with a hand specialist to determine how long he will be out.

3. The San Diego Padres trade left-hander Drew Pomeranz to the Boston Red Sox for right-handed prospect Andrew Espinoza. Pomeranz had an ERA of 2.47 and appeared in the All-Star game last Tuesday night.

4. The Clippers sign veteran point guard Raymond Felton to a one-year deal to back up Chris Paul.

5. Linebacker Von Miller agrees to a six-year, $114.5 million deal to return to the Denver Broncos. It is the largest contract for a defensive player in league history.

6. Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw could return to the mound next week sources say.

7. The Los Angeles Rams agree to terms with UC Irvine to hold camp there for three years with an option for a fourth. Training camp, which is open to the public, begins Saturday July 30.

8. On this day in 1909 baseball legend Ty Cobb hits two inside the park home runs.

9. Former wrestler Jesse “The Body” Ventura turns 65 today.
