1. Rob Segedin set a Dodgers record with four RBIs in his major league debut, Adrian Gonzalez hit his 300th career homer and Los Angeles beat the Boston Red Sox 8-5 on Sunday night and take two of three in the series.

2. Michael Phelps won his 19th Olympic gold medal, 23rd overall in the 4×100 relay race Sunday night in Rio De Janeiro.

3. The LA Galaxy rally from two goals down late in the second half and earn a 2-2 draw with the NY Red Bulls.

4. Alex Rodriguez will play his last game as a Yankee this Friday and assume a position as a special advisor with the team.

5. The Cleveland Browns have announced that Robert Griffin III has earned the starting quarterback spot.

6. Ichiro Suzuki reached the 3,000 hit club Sunday hitting a triple off of Colorado’s Chris Russin.

7. Field conditions, reported as rock hard paint at midfield and in the end zones force the cancellation of the Hall of Fame game between Green Bay and Indianapolis.

8. Former Cal High School running back Nic Grigsby is currently fourth in the CFL in rushing with 265 yards and a touchdown.

9. Reports estimate that close to 30,000 were in attendance at the Los Angeles Rams “Family Day” practice Saturday at the Coliseum.
