Tigers Beat Rosemead Panthers: 35-20

By Rich Whittington

(Rosemead)—The South Pasadena Tigers jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back, beating the host Rosemead Panthers, 35-20, in the season opener for both schools Friday evening at Rod Marinelli Stadium.

The Tigers scored the game’s first touchdown on an 18-yard run by senior Jalen Ross. Ross would also score the game’s final touchdown, finding the end zone on a 27-yard scoring dash. SP also demonstrated aerial prowess, as senior quarterback Adam Arellano threw for 120 yards, including touchdown tosses of 12 and 30-yards. The remainder of the Tiger’s scoring came courtesy of junior fullback Gavin Chi, who ran for a 45-yard score.

Rosemead’s scoring was provided by senior quarterback Isiah Ah-Hing, who threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He found wide receivers Elisha Garner and Justen Campbell for scores of 20-yards and six-yards, respectively. The balance of the Panthers offensive was supplied by running back Carlos Alvarez, who scored on a 2-yard touchdown run.
