Spartans Stop Condors Comeback

MONTEBELLO— Schurr quarterback Miguel Aguero throws for 234-yards and running back Noah Rangel rushed for 103-yards on nine carries scoring two touchdowns in the Spartan’s 33-22 win over Cal Friday night at the new Ken Davis field.

After forcing the Condors to a quick three and out on their opening series, Aguero connected with Francisco Remigio on a quick slant for 73-yards. On the very next play Jose Rochin punched it from four yards out to to put Schurr up 7-0 early in the first quarter.

The Spartan offense continued the scoring flow on their next drive taking six plays that was capped off with a Rangel 18-yard touchdown run. Schurr pushed their lead up to 19 when Aguero connected with Lance Babb for a 52 yard score.

The Condors finally got the board when Chirs Lowden scampered his way for the score form 16-yards out. Schurr went into halftime leading 19-6.

Following the break, the Spartans ground game continued to push Cal backwards. Rochin scored his second touchdown when he out ran the Condor defense for the 22-yard score. Cal was able to respond on their following possession with a Andrew Reyes score. Schurr was up 25-14 late in the third quarter.

The Condors tried to make a comeback after another Reyes score but Evan Barajas pass was picked off by Sebastian Ramos ending the game.
