“When You’re a Met, you’re the swingin’est thing…Little boy, you’re a man; Little man, you’re a king!”

By Joe Torosian

“Tackling is fundamental, but hitting is essential if you’re going to be a great football team. You have to make it so they don’t want anymore.”—West El Monte Poly, DC, Coach Gugliotta

Kick it!

Right off the Top: Oh, I’ve always thought Fantasy Football was a stupid waste of time…I’ve never really been into it.

As of tomorrow…I am no longer friends with anybody supporting the San Francisco Giants…but for old times sake can some of these former friends and family members not contact, text, message, or tag me in any social media tomorrow night…I will be watching the Giants-Mets later in the evening…

…after it is over I will be available to send you snarky, gloating, and obnoxious texts about the Metropolitans victory.

In regards to the drone that hovered above The Swamp for the better part of the Arroyo-South El Monte game on Friday night…At what point does it become legal to shoot down a drone?

Not that anyone would have a reason to but if a drone appeared over my backyard and stayed there…I’d start throwing fruit at it…Are there any rules regarding this…and what recourse can a visiting team take IF a home team decided to use a drone?

Maybe some sort of high-powered bean bag weapon could be utilized…

Ridiculous, yes, but however it was done schools were able to stop the red lazar pointers from being flashed on the field…Or were those just made illegal?

I know everyone’s all excited about the Los Angeles Rams being 3-1…Well, let’s not start slapping each others backs quite yet.

Take a deep breath.

They still have a sub-standard quarterback, they still have a horrible offensive line, and the receiving unit is still very questionable.

This recent version of Brian Quick is capable of ripping off his mask at any time and revealing the real Brian Quick.

Right now, at best, Case Keenum is playing like a number two quarterback…but that will be tough to sustain as the season wears on…Usually, a good backup has a strong arm and horrible accuracy…or excellent accuracy but a horrible arm…Keenum’s a miracle, he’s got neither…and he’s the starting quarterback for the NFL’s Los Angeles franchise…So I tip my hat to him…(if indeed I were wearing a hat.)

Charlie Sheen would call that, “Winning.”

…And an offensive line that should, at bare minimum, be able to drive block can’t spring Todd Gurley (2.6 average) for even three-yards carry.

Am I happy about them being 3-1? Absolutely.

Am I excited about them being 3-1? Absolutely not.

The Rams right now are fools gold. It’s bright, its shiny, but eventually, someone who really knows their business (a gold prospector or a tough NFL team) is going to expose them.

That might happen this week when the Buffalo Bills come to town. The Bills are not a great team either, but they are very physical and could make it a real long day for the Rams offense.

If they win, I am going to be happy.

If they lose, I’m not going to be happy, but I will say…I told you so.

On this date TOMORROW: October 5, 2012…El Monte quarterback Brandon Martinez fired six touchdown passes to four different receivers. Josh Morales, Adolpho Sanchez, and Bryan Luevano each caught one. Abel Barrajas caught three to go with his 11 total receptions for 150 yards.

(Barrajas’s numbers would total 44 in my Fantasy Football League)

The Lions defeated Arroyo, 38-21, for the first time since 1990.

So basically the Los Angeles Angels gave up Mark Trumbo for Hector Santiago…Okay…

Thank You, Sir May I Have Another Dept.:
Burbank and Hoover have met each of the last twelve years…Burbank has won all twelve…Burbank has won six by shutout…Burbank has allowed ten points or more only three times (but not since 2009)…Burbank has scored over 40 twelve times…Burbank has scored over 45 twelve times…Burbank has not scored less than 48 in each of the last twelve games…Burbank has scored over 50 five times and over 60 twice…

The Tornadoes visit the Bulldogs this Thursday night.

I’m not tight with Carolina Panthers HC, Ron Rivera…but if you should talk to him can you tell him the best way to keep his quarterback healthy and efficient over the course of a 16 game season is not to have any designed runs for him beyond a sneak…

When Arroyo goes to El Monte on Friday night, there will be a lot of interesting things happening…besides first place in the Mission Valley League (and ‘The Fate of The World’)…Arroyo has an exciting young quarterback in Ernesto Camacho…El Monte has a trio playmakers in quarterback Andrew Ramos, running back Devin Romero, and receiver/defensive back Sal Chavez.

But the difference in this game could be the Knights combo wide receiver/cornerback, Yezden Marquez.

Offensively, Marquez has caught only ten passes but four of them have gone for touchdowns and he’s averaging 24-yards per catch.

Defensively, Marquez has picked off three passes and defended six.

If the game is close, Marquez with a penchant for the big play might be the difference.

If the game is a blowout, expect Marquez to have made some big plays.

On this night in 2007, South Hills running back Dorian Wells rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns—teammate Damon Kuklinski had ten tackles and two sacks in the Huskies 28-7 victory over Rancho Cucamonga at CDF.

The intentional walk should never be automatic in baseball…It should always require four pitches to the catcher…But the IBB (intentional base on balls) should never count against the pitcher as a walk or be figured into his total WHIP…Or maybe it already is…so just ignore it…or…maybe I’ve just stumbled into gold!

Fools gold?

Midbits: Did Barry Bonds lose his job with Miami Marlins for coaching while on steroids? I swear, I think it was only flax seed oil he was using.

Midbits: I’m gonna guess if Baltimore’s Adam Jones becomes a free agent…odds are very small that he’ll sign with Toronto.

Midbits: A.C. Green turns 53 today.

Midbits: Is it too late to wish I was a baseball player?
