Los Altos will be running into West Covina

All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.

Thursday November 3

La Serna (6-3) vs. Santa Fe (5-4) at California

This is for the Del Rio title with both teams coming in at 4-0 in league. But while Santa Fe was barely scraping by some of its league opponents, La Serna was leveling every one in its path. Santa Fe beat Whittier by two points, La Serna routed the Cardinals by 36 to give you an idea. La Serna gets out in front early and rolls to a big victory. The Lancers own the Del Rio.

Friday November 4

Crescenta Valley (8-1) at Arcadia (8-1)

All Crescenta Valley has to do is win and the Pacific League crown is theirs. Arcadia will try to upset the apple cart. The Apaches only loss was at Burbank three weeks ago while CV suffered an early setback to Golden Valley. The Falcons are looking to run the Pacific table and its hard to imagine them letting Arcadia getting in their way. The Apaches can be explosive at times but the question is can they stop CV’s offense. The Falcons have scored over 50 points three times so far this season and over 40 twice. Look for them to light it up again against Arcadia. CV rolls.

Los Altos (9-0) at West Covina (6-3)

After the Conquerors impressively knocked off Charter Oak last Friday Night everybody was talking about how Los Altos had just wrapped up the Hacienda League championship. Finally Los Altos Head Coach Dale Ziola had to remind everybody that there was still one more game to play. “We have to beat West Covina because if we don’t there could be a three way tie for first.”

Yes indeed there is one more game in the form of the West Covina Bulldogs. Mike Maggiore’s crew has lost just once in the Hacienda. Charter Oak held on to beat them 27-24 a month ago. If Los Altos rests on its laurels it could be beat. If the Conqs don’t come to play West Covina can definitely surprise them. Ziola is too good of a coach to let that happen. West Covina battles, the Bulldogs always do, but in the end LA has enough. Los Altos finishes a perfect 10-0 regular season run.

Sierra Canyon (9-0, 2-0) v. Paraclete (6-3, 3-0) at Crespi Carmelite High School

It’s always a battle when the Trailblazers and Spirits lock horns. Last year the Sierra Canyon got the best of Paraclete in route to a Mid Valley Division title. Niko Harris went out earlier this year with an injury but Johnny Hawkins has stepped in an filled the void and Bobby Cole is still force to be reckoned with. Dean Herrington stepped in for the retiring Norm Dahlia has led Paraclete through the brutal non-league schedule to get ready for this game and post season. It will be a close game as it usually is but Sierra Canyon will finish strong.

Downey (8-1, 4-0) at Paramount (7-2, 4-0)

The Pirates have quietly put themselves in the position to steal the San Gabriel Valley League title away from Downey. Paramount doesn’t have one player putting up huge numbers but as a team are playing good football. For Paramount to get the win they will need to stop Emari Demercado and Baraq Ross who have combined for more that 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns. But, if they stop the run they will have to deal with the passing game where Trevor Hill has thrown for close to 2,000 yards and 19 scores. If the Pirates win this one it won’t be a total upset but we don’t see that happening.

La Mirada (7-2, 5-0) at Mayfair (6-3, 5-0)

The Monsoons appear to be the only team in the Suburban League with a outside shot to pull of the upset against La Mirada. Mayfair as a team has rushed for more than 2,000 yards on the season and will need to grind up yardage and the clock to keep it close. The Matadores on the other hand haven’t lost since September and haven’t really been challenged either. Will it make a difference? No! There are just too many athletes and the ability to score quick will make it hard for Mayfair to keep it close.

Other Games:

Monrovia (4-4) at South Pasadena (6-2) – Great season for Tigers but Wildcats slip by. Monrovia 21 South Pasadena 17

Burbank (6-3) at Burroughs (4-5) – It’s not for the Pacific title but it’s always fun. Burbank has too much. Burbank 28 Burroughs 13

Covina (6-3) at San Dimas (7-2) – Colts could finish second in Valle Vista with win over San Dimas. However Saints will bounce back. San Dimas 31 Covina 21
