(Alhambra) – Alhambra gave Schurr all it could handle but in the end the Spartans had enough to beat the Moors 41-28 to finish second in the Almont League.
Schurr quarterback Miguel Aguero completed 18 of 23 for 267 yards and five touchdowns and Lance Babb had 10 receptions for 149 yards and four scores. Noah Rangel added to the offensive explosion for the Spartans with 195 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries.
Schurr racked up 477 yards overall with 210 coming on the ground.
For Alhambra Salman Gurung had 155 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and Lu-Ring Paialii had 22 carries for 111 yards and a pair of scores.
Dominic Wilson was just 4 of 11 for 25 yards through the air for the Moors but he did return a punt for a touchdown to bring Alhambra within 28-21 before halftime.
The Moors had 327 total yards on the night – 302 rushing.
Schurr improved to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the Almont to take second behind Montebello. Alhambra took third going 5-5 and 3-2.
