The Peterson Principle 10/8/12
Tim Peterson
It finally happened and it happened convincingly. For the first time in 21 years El Monte knocked off Arroyo. It wasn’t close. El Monte jumped out to a 26-7 halftime lead and it was 32-7 as the Lions coasted from there.
It wasn’t exactly the way you expected Arroyo to go down but this Brandon [...]

Covina could surprise in the Valle Vista League
Mea Culpa Covina
I love it when I’m right but when I’m wrong, I need to acknowledge that also. And in the case of Covina it looks like I was wrong. After seeing how many players the Colts lost to graduation/transfer I thought they were in trouble.
After seeing them shut [...]
Game Night: Week One
Diamond Ranch will line up against El Rancho

Covina (0-1) at La Puente (0-0)
La Puente has Ivan Vasquez returning at quarterback and looks like a team that will contend in the Montview. The Warriors might be the favorites. It could be a long year for Covina. The Colts defense isn’t bad but offense is [...]

Tim Peterson and some wierd looking hippie dude like the Dodgers
I didn’t know picking La Mirada as the number one team in the Southeast Division would create such a stir. Aren’t we still in August? Isn’t Zero Week still three weeks away? I mean it’s not like we tabbed Lynwood.
Apparently the crime that we committed [...]

Most of the schools are on dead period which explains why I saw Arcadia Assistant Coach Eric Elias on the golf course Saturday afternoon. “What? Are the Mid Valley guys out here playing for money?” Elias laughed.
The Apaches return to the field in early August to prepare for their home opener against Rio Hondo [...]

How much stock should be put in passing leagues? Diamond Bar HC Ryan Maine (above) has to wonder. Last year the Brahmas won the SGV Shootut but missed the playoffs
Surprise, Surprise! Monrovia won the Arroyo Lineman Competition Saturday – as if they didn’t have enough everywhere else.
Santa Fe and Claremont also held their passing tournaments [...]
Charter Oak Wins Wolfpack Challenge
Charter Oak WR/DB Aaren Vaughns
(Claremont) – 16 teams showed up at Claremont High School Saturday to compete in the Wolfpack Challenge. When it was all over Charter Oak had knocked off host Claremont in the championship game.
South Torrance QB Kyle Nesbit
Notes: Charter Oak beat La Serna in the semis while Claremont beat Crescenta Valley to [...]

Blake Heyworth, (right), Mason Bryant (center) and so many other weapons for Monrovia
So West Covina wins the SGV Shootout? What? Last year the Bulldogs were knocked out early and that figured. With guys like Chris Solomon, Jimmy Frazier and Aaron Salgado all Head Coach Mike Maggiore was going to do was pound the ball and [...]
West Covina Wins Shootout
SGV Shootout Champions – West Covina Bulldogs
(El Monte) – West Covina beat Northview 30-18 to win the SGV Shootout at Arroyo Saturday. The Bulldogs, not traditionally a passing team, knocked off Monrovia in the semi finals before dispatching of Northview. Monrovia beat Whittier Christian in the consolation game.
West Covina’s Antonio “Noodles” Hull
The Bulldogs used both Antonio “Noodles” Hull and [...]

Bell Gardens HC David Ramos addresses his troops at the Buccaneer Classic. Ramos is entering his 13th year as the BG Head Coach
Wow! Alert the media. Sound the alarm! The Dodgers just scored a run…
You knew the Dodgers offense would struggle without Matt Kemp in the lineup but did anybody predict this bad? This is [...]
