(La Mirada)–Sophomore kicker Brandon Petruescu’s 30-yard field goal with 12 seconds left to play, capped a 22 point fourth quarter rally and gave La Mirada a 32-31 victory over La Serna on Friday night.

With three minutes to play in the fourth quarter the La Mirada faithful called in Miracle Max to look at their dead football team. The score was 31-10 in favor of La Serna…Justin Moreno had just hit Osorio with a touchdown pass…

Max looked them over and said. “It just so happens that your team here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there’s usually only one thing you can do…Go through his clothes and look for loose change.”

Slightly alive produced a tangible pulse when Elijah Hicks returned a kick-off 80-yards to paydirt to make the score 31-16.

With 6:41 to play Tristan Myer went 22-yards to Jeremy Clark and the big receiver went down to the ground to make the catch in the end zone and the team was siting up and coming to life.

With two minutes to play, Angel Favala plowed in from a yard to make it 31-29…but a gadget play on a two-point conversion failed and the Matadores were again feeling the death dew cold on their brow.

The onside kick failed…and the wake was being planned…but then the Lancers turned the ball over on downs…53-seconds to play LM got the ball at their own 35 with no timeouts…

With 39 seconds to go on fourth down…a banged up/sore ribbed…Myer goes 20-yards to Hicks for a first down…

With 22 seconds to go on fourth down…from the La Serna 45 with no timeouts…Myer goes downfield to Clark for a first down at the Lancers 13…

As everyone is screaming, cheering, transcribing…LM HC, Mike Moschetti runs Petroescu onto the field…no pressure with senior kicker Francisco Sanchez on crutches and the team motto of “Next Man Up” being strictly adhered to…The 30-yard boot veers wide right but inside the goal post and the Lancers ressurection…milagro…miracle…was complete.

Coach “P”… if that is your reeeeal name (too scared to write your entire name or what???)

Lets face it, your QB threw more pics than TDs and half of those INTs were in the red zone. Did you even teach your QB to move his feet or how to actually read the defense??? Or did you just skim through that part in your “Coaching QBs 101 for Dummies” book? In other words… if you coached all those other guys what made you stop coaching this year???

By the way I’d be more than happy to help out. Tell you what, I’ll meet you in the campus parking lot around 3:00 to give you some tips on the finer points of the game… in fact, here’s lesson 1: STAY OFF THE BLOGS!
