(Glendora) – Sierra Canyon broke open a close game to outscore Charter Oak 21-0 in the fourth quarter and went on to beat the Chargers 42-19 Friday night and advance to the CIF Division 4 Finals.

Bobby Cole scored four touchdowns including a pair of 36-yard touchdown runs – one in the first quarter on the Trailblazers first possession and another in the fourth quarter with 2:09 left that iced the game. His other runs came on short blasts of two and three yards in the third and fourth quarters.

Charter Oak hung around through out the contest and took the lead at 19-14 with 3:34 left in the third on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Zack Niccoli to Jermaine Braddock. That was the last time Charter Oak scored however as the Trailblazers scored the next 28 points.

On the next series Cole capped an 80-yard drive with a two-yard run as Sierra Canyon immediately answered to go up 21-19. It stayed that way until late in the fourth quarter when JJ Hernandez picked off a pass to set up Sierra Canyon at the Charter Oak 41. Six plays later Cole went in from the three-yard line to make it 28-19.

Another interception gave Sierra Canyon another short field. On the first play from scrimmage Cole broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage and went 36 yards for the score to make it 35-19.

Niccoli was injured in the fourth quarter and was replaced by Kendle Mcmillian. Michael Myrick picked off a Mcmillian pass on the Chargers next series and returned it 54 yards for the pick six for the final score.

Brian Casteel caught 23-yard TD pass from Niccoli to tie the game at seven in the first quarter. Sierra Canyon responded with a 62-yard touchdown strike from Johnny Hawkins to Corey Jones to go up 14-7.

The Chargers cut it to 14-13 with 1:00 minute left in the first half when Casteel scored on a four-yard run. The missed extra point left the Blazers up by one at the break.

Charter Oak went up on Braddock’s reception until Sierra Canyon turned it around.

Charter Oak was hurt by turnovers as Sierra Canyon picked off five passes – four in the second half. Niccoli threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns but was hurt by the three picks. Mcmillian threw two interceptions after replacing Niccoli in the fourth quarter. Braddock had five receptions for 125 yards and a score. Casteel had five for 57.

For Sierra Canyon, Cole finished with 29 carries for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Hawkins completed 10 of 30 for 178 yards and a score with no picks.

Next week Sierra Canyon will host Corona Del Mar in the Division 4 Finals. Time and date to be determined.
