Khayman King had the game winning grab for Los Altos

(Hacienda Heights) — In the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, Kody Olmos connected with Khayman King in the corner of the end zone, on a fourth and 16, to give Los Altos the 30-28 win over Woodrow Wilson in the Division 6 semifinals Friday night at Los Altos High School. 

With 2:45 seconds left the Conqueror defense stuffed Wilson quarterback Tanner Frost who tried to sneak his way for the first on fourth down and short. Los Altos took over on their 43 with 2:40 left to play.

Olmos and the Los Altos offense drove down the field and managed to to reach the Bruin 11. On first and second down, Olmos had his passes batted down in the end zone. On third and 10, Olmos found Tyler Nevens in the backfield but he lost six yards after the catch. Finally on fourth and 17, Olmos dropped back and found King who leaped over to make the catch as the final buzzer sounded.

Throughout out the game, neither team could create separation. Both teams traded scoring blows with one big play after another.

Los Altos struck first late in the opening quarter when Nevens punched his way in to the end zone for six. Wilson answered right back with a rushing score of their own when Jaccobi Hard scored on a 2-yard run.

Just before the half ended, both teams added touchdowns to pull the game even at 15. Nevens scored his second touchdown of the game with 59 seconds left. Wilson returned the favor on their ensuing drive when Frost kept the ball and sneaked way into the end zone for the score.

Late in the third quarter after Olmos & Co. broke a 15-15 tie the Burins answered right back when Jaccobi Hardy took the hand off and dashed his way for the 76-yard touchdown. Following a Conqueror field goal, Hardy scampered of for a 80-touchdown, to put Wilson up 28-24.

With the win, Los Altos will play Paraclete in the division 6 finals. Site and time will be determined.
