@SC Parent, Thank you for the compliment.
The Players, Coaches and fans need to be proud of your teams accomplishments “Back to Back CIF Titles” and now a chance for the State Title. Whatever happens in the game the SC Trailblazers are Champions.

Sierra Canyon has 1000 kids included Boys and Girls and grades K-12 How many come in after 6th Grade.I hear its about 30% and those are recruited Academically as well as Athletically.
John Bosco High School only 900, but Boys only and recruited from long Beach area. Strange, why LB Poly has had a dip in talent the past 3-4 years? More players in the NFL than any other High School.

From the El Monte Union High School District
    Ledesma No Football continuation school
    El Monte 2000
    Mt View 1400
    So El Monte 1300
    Rosemead 2200
    Arroyo 2400

    Over 10300 students
5,150 are boys to choose from. 1200 of the best football playing boys go to Arroyo. They better win league every year. Just interesting how the haves get more and the have nots get less and less.

@ Duane B thanks for checking on those stats for me, @ Anonymous you are absolutely wrong about they fact they let anybody that can play in, If that were the fact we would have players like Darnay Holmes, Trisan Gebbia who go to that Publicly recruited school Calabasas or players like TJ Pledger and Blake Forte but there are academic standards that Sierra Canyon demands . GPA above everything at Sierra Canyon . If you look at colleges our Football Alumni attend it will prove it. Brown, Harvard, Yale, Penn, Columbia, Lafayette, Georgetown. So no not everyone can succeed at Sierra Canyon and thats what we are most proud of.

SC Success is that they let anybody that can play in. They are recruiting heavily in Football and Basketball.

Private schools are much different than public schools. The Premier school in SoCal St John Bosco only has 600 kids. In public schools numbers are a huge reason for success not the only reason but a big part of it

@ Really and Friday night lights Sierra Canyon was moved up 6 divisions this year and if anyone who has been following my posts will attest to We asked preseason to play teams like Oaks Christian , Chaminade, and Westlake to which all schools did not want to play us. I stated the reason they didn’t want to play us was because we were to small a school for them and a lot of posters on here scoffed at this comment….. Well fast forward 4 months look where we are , Playing for the division 2A state title with a record of 15-0 . We are the only school with that record , some schools are 14-0 . I agree with both of you that leagues need to be equal but you can’t base it on school numbers . Our enrollment is 365 kids . Alot of factors go into a championship team ; coaching, athletic ability and to me the most important factor is Brotherhood. Every Senior on that team has been there since they were freshman , There is not 1 player who is playing for themselves they are playing for the man next to them. There is alot to be said about that. Regardless of the outcome of Saturdays game this group of Seniors have lost 3 games since most of them started as sophomores with the last 2 years going 29-1 with there only loss being 1 point in regionals last year . On top of that most of the Seniors are Honors students with outstanding GPAs . On a separate note @ T. Peterson or @ Duane B I hope you see this Im looking for the answer to a trivia question and can’t find it : How many high school teams have gone 16-0 in a season ? I don’t know when CIF started the new playoff to state games so Im sure it dates back to then but I can’t find the Info. If any bloggers know the answer also please let me know . Thanks

From Duane B.: Just doing a quick search I found two teams that have gone 16-0 (per Maxpreps and CalPreps). St. John Bosco in 2013 and Mission Viejo in 2015.

    @really?
For once I agree with you… if you’re gonna use competitive equity for playoffs the same should be done for leagues. Couple examples… Marshall had a team of seniors, this was their best team in years by all accounts it should’ve been a good run but it was good enough for a 3rd place finish. Arroyo does have a competitive advantage just by sheer numbers. 1,000 more kids is a huge advantage

Some food for thought. Don’t the leagues need to even out so they can play teams that are at least similar. Paraclete and Sierra Canyon need to be out there with Hart in the Foothill or Oaks Christian in the Marmonte or perhaps the Mission League with Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Just as Arroyo and Monrovia need to vacate their leagues. Duarte recruited some of Greenies players talent away, but they will return once Higgins leaves. Arroyo 2400 students with their semi-recruited players from all of El Monte and now coaches son’s, and they play schools like Marshall 1000, Gabby 1300, SEM 1300, and Mtn. View’s 1400 from the deleted talent pool that is El Monte. No wonder they have been the top of the little pond titled MVL for so long. Put them in a small lake for 10 years, like the SGV League, Pacific, or the Suburban. Take out Glenn and/or Cerritos. BETTER YET! Put them in the Del Rio with La Serna and company. Lets see how they do there. Its watermelons Vs. grapes in the demolition derby of the MVL folks.

What the heck is Dixie State? They get more coverage on here than Mt.Sac.

From Duane B.: Really? I don’t remember ever sending anyone to cover Dixie State. When they play APU they get mentioned as an opponent but we haven’t covered Dixie State teams to give them coverage!

#7 Perhaps Fisher should think about another career. Maybe Amway or Mary Kay.
