1. The Lakers blow a 14 point halftime lead and fall to the Charlotte Hornets 117-113.

2. LeBron James passes Moses Malone with his 27,410th point to become eighth on the NBA all-time scoring list.

3. The Lakers will unveil a 9-foot bronze statue of Shaquille O’Neal outside Staples Center on March 17 before a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

4. Former Dodger/Phillie shortstop Jimmy Rollins agrees to a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants.

5. Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey and LSU’s Leonard Fournette have both announced that they won’t participate in their school’s bowl games and prepare for the NFL draft.

6. The Boston Red Sox trade pitcher Clay Buchholz to the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league second baseman Josh Tobias. Buchholz is the longest-tenured member of the Red Sox staff having spent 10 years with the team.

7. Warren offensive lineman Andy Wickens has received an offer from Western-State Colorado.

8. Western Kentucky beats Memphis 51-31 in the Boca Raton Bowl.

9. On this day in 1969 legendary Green Bay Packer head coach Vince Lombardi, now on the sidelines for the Washington Redskins, coaches his last NFL game.

10. Happy Birthday to tennis great Chris Evert who turns 62 today.
