1. The Lakers snapped an 11 game losing steak against the Clippers with a 111-102 win over Los Angeles Sunday night at Staples Center.

2. The Denver Broncos are eliminated from the NFL playoff picture as they fall to the Kansas City Chiefs 33-10 Sunday night.

3. Laker forward Larry Nance is out at least four weeks with a bone bruise in his left knee.

4. Oakland Raider quarterback Derek Carr is out for the season after suffering a broken fibula in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

5. Three NFL teams – Oakland, Miami and Houston will enter the postseason with their second string quarterbacks.

6. Sierra Canyon is the number one ranked basketball team in the LA Times Top 25. Los Altos is 18th.

7. Kyrie Irving’s fadeaway jumper with 3.4 seconds left gave the Cleveland Cavaliers a 109-108 win over the Golden State Warriors Sunday in Cleveland.

8. Villanova (12-0) is the number one ranked team in college basketball for the fourth straight week. UCLA (13-0) is number two.

9. On this date in 1976 Bobby Bryant returned a blocked field goal attempt by Tom Dempsey 90-yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and the Minnesota Vikings went on to beat the Los Angeles Rams 24-13 in the NFC Championship game.

10. Happy Birthday to former St. Louis Cardinal shortstop “The Wizard” Ozzie Smith who turns 62 today.
