The TEN

The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a tp ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1.) “It is going to get easier for Lonzo as we go. When he gets to the pros, the game is even faster, and that’s when he’s at his best. Now … you trade in Bryce [Alford] for D-Wade? Trade in [Isaac] Hamilton for Iguodala? Get away from TJ Leaf and give him Anthony Davis? C’mon, man.”—LaVar Ball on his son, UCLA’s Lonzo Ball.

2.) At Torrey Pines, Tiger Woods 4-bogeys and hits a double bogey on final six holes.

3.) “Considering the expansion of schools in many areas and the migration of families to affordable communities…Does anyone think that, maybe, there are TOO many football teams in CIF? And that maybe eliminating some of the programs would be beneficial in some ways?”—MVS commenter “Something to Ponder”

4.) Serena Williams versus Venus Williams in Saturday’s Australian Open tennis final. It is the ninth time the two have met in a final.

5.) On this day in 1991 the New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills 20-19 in Super Bowl XXV when Buffalo’s Scott Norwwod misses wide right on a 44-yard field goal at the end of the game.

6.) Holiday Bowl committee in San Diego in talks with Padres about their game moving to Petco Park on permanent basis. Pending renovation of baseball stadium is accomplished.

7.) Former Houston Oiler Billy “White Shoes” Johnson turns 65 today.

8.) Super Bowl LI (51) will be the 29th time a quarterback wearing number “12” will start the game.
Quarterbacks wearing “12” are 17-11 all-time in the Super Bowl.
Matt Ryan is the first quarterback in Super Bowl history to wear “2”

9.) NBA:
Los Angeles Clippers: 30-17
Los Angeles Lakers: 16-34

10.) “I’ve been around, well – alright, I might not have been around, but, I’ve been nearby.”—Mary Richards

A star makes the game slow down around him. Tom Brady 38 looks like he is playing in a bubble and everyone is going at him in slo-mo. Michael Jordan when he jumped looked like Chick Hearn used to say, everybody got off on the 2nd floor and he went up to to the 4th. Wayne Gretzky made it look like nobody was guarding him on the ice. The Ball brothers are great no doubt but they play like a Meadow Lark Lemon rather than a Jerry West. And how many rings did Meadow Lark have? Ball dad better stop counting the pro money and get someone to teach them the game. I do not think L. Ball is anywhere near ready for the NBA.

Papa Ball, I wouldn’t count your chickens before they hatch. Yes, his NBA teammates will be better than his UCLA teammates. BUT, the teams and players he will be playing against are a whole lot better too. There are no Masters University, Pacific, Long Beach State, and CSUN in the NBA. I hope your son makes it but there has been plenty of college superstars who were better than your son that only had a cup of coffee in the NBA.

#2 When the back goes it all goes. Tiger will still be remembered as one of the best golfers ever, even if he never wins another round.

Daddy Ball is not helping jis son by talking and runnng down his teammates.
    Avice to players: Just play.
    Advice to parents: Just watch.
Lonzo may be a 1&done, but he needs to finish the 1 without having his Dad talking down the team.
