On defense we went with the traditional 4-3 set. We based our selections not solely on numbers but also on what we saw and on the opinions of coaches. Since the players are interchangeable we didn’t mention specific positions for our defensive line, linebackers or secondary. Here is our All Mid Valley Defensive Team for 2016.
DL: Jayson Jones – Los Altos: 13 sacks and 87 total tackles for a solid Conqueror defensive front.
DL: Josh Cooper – Downey: 36 tackles for loss; 89 total.
DL: Brandon Gonzalez – Montebello: Dominated up front playing nose guard and defensive end.
DL: Cedric Dashiell – Buena Park: 22 of his 115 tackles were sacks.
LB: Kobe Quiroga – Northview: Led a stout Viking D with 114 total tackles.
LB: Jonathan Olguin – Montebello: 120 total tackles for an Oiler defense that only allowed an average of 9.2 points per game.

BlueHorse?
You can’t be serious? Some really good players are coming out of the Almont. MHS has two kids who will continue to play next season in college. Holguin and Gonzalez can pretty much play at any HS. Noah Rangel from Schurr pretty much the same. Stop being a hater and open those pot smoking eyes!!
@Blue Horse Shoe
You sounds like a hater and an idiot. Your kid must of not made the list or you must be salty about something . An open hand slap to the back of your head is what you need. All these young men are more than deserving of their awards.
@MVS…Sorry, it went over your head. Never mind, great list of athletes. Almont kids are the best football players around!! Can’t wait to see where they all sign! LOL
In all seriousness, don’t bother with these lists if you aren’t going to put the best kids on there. It damages your brand, and comes across as pandering. It’s Not worth your integrity as a journalist.
From MVS Staff: Best kids ARE on the All Mid Valley Team. Sorry your kid didn’t make it. Oh and it didn’t go over our head. Your post was just poorly written.
MVS, wow a very diverse and inclusive list! Ya right, This is a joke! We don’t need to see anyone from the Almont league on this list. None of those guys would see the field at any mid level program let alone top tier. Stop pandering and call it straight!
From MVS Staff: Ok let me get this straight. You want it diverse and inclusive but you don’t want anyone from the Almont. Uh, yeah ok. Got it.
Play in the Almont or play for Arroyo and your guaranteed to be on any list
Hey if we played in the Almont we would be here every year Lol….
C.C Cesar Carrillo from Arroyo didn’t make the list and he was the best linebacker in the MVL. Sorry El Monte nice try
Montebello plays no one.
How did sebation Reyes from El Monte not an all mid valley defense. That kid was fast and can play. He can hit and is a smart players on and off the field.
Chino’s DB Willie Morris had another outstanding season with 500 + yards rushing and receiving, 19 TDs and 5 interceptions two taken in for TDs.
