1. James Harden scored 34 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 105-99 win over Oklahoma City to win their First Round Western Conference Playoff series 4 games to 1. Russell Westbrook had 47 points and 11 rebounds for the Thunder.

2. Rosemead has hired its head football coach. The announcement will be made after board approval in early May.

3. Lakers President Magic Johnson will represent the team during next month’s draft lottery. The Lakers who finished with the third worst record in the NBA have a 47 % chance to win a draft pick in the top three during the lottery.

4. Jake Long, the number 1 pick in the 2008 NFL draft and a four-time Pro Bowl left tackle for the Miami Dolphins, announced his retirement.

5. Former NFL quarterback Vince Young is at a three-day minicamp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

6. “So Diamond Bar gets Los Altos’ HC and DC. Who’s next? The waterboy and the chain gang?” – a post on Twitter.

7. USC announced that a $270 million renovation of the LA Memorial Coliseum is scheduled to begin after the 2017 season and will be completed for the start of the 2019 season.

8. The “Red Devils Shootout” Saturday June 3 at Pomona High School.

9. On this day in 1992 Washington defensive end Steve Emtman was the first overall pick in the NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts.

    Wonder if Pat Haden has worked himself into some of the construction contracts connected with this Coliseum renovation. After all, a man’s got to live well, along with his extended family and friends.
