Joe T. has always been a fan of Temple City football...and the Mets.

Joe T. thinks El Monte & San Gabriel will have head football coaches before the Mets win another game…The horror, the horror…the horror…

By Joe Torosian

“Yeah her young face was like that of an angel
And her long legs were tan and brown
You better keep your eyes on that road boy
You better slow this vehicle down.”—Sammy Johns

Kick it!

Right off the Top: I miss the NFL Draft…I miss the first three rounds being on Saturday…I miss awesome sauce it was before it went to the red carpet and prime time.

***

This past week myself and MVS staffers Tim Peterson & Duane Barker made controversial Facebook posts.

Barker last weekend posted a pool pic from the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas with an extremely European looking guy in speedos in the background.

The Heaven & Hell view from the Excalibur pool...

The Heaven & Hell view from the Excalibur pool…

Peterson made this comment about Aaron Hernandez’s suicide. “So it looks like Aaron Hernandez is out for the year.”
Which inspired this response: “Not nice Tim, Not funny at all!! Have you stooped and think how his family feels. It’s not about him!! So sad!!!”

Torosian made his annual slam about soccer players being either bad actors or wimps. Which inspired this: “I’m a big Joe Torosian fan but sometimes he can be wrong.”“Sounds like you’re the one whining and crying. Did someone knock you off the sofa???LOL!!!” … & “#you’readummy.”

Whose post was most offensive?

There needs to be a no-foul-out rule in basketball.
The NFL Draft needs to get away from Prime Time.
MLB needs to get rid of replay.
Walnut needs to get out of the Hacienda League.
Soccer needs line changes like the NHL.

Number One MLB Team: Mets
Number Two MLB Team: Indians
Teams I have a soft-spot for: Brewers, Rockies, Twins, Mariners
Teams I’ll never care about: Phillies, Astros, Rays, Marlins, Royals, Cubs, Reds, Yankees.
Teams on indifferent about: Everyone else.
Team I despise: Braves.
Team I want to lose every game until its TV contract runs out: Dodgers.

Since the prep football season is starting to roll again, what would you rate as the biggest transfer of the off-season? Since December it feels like the coaches have dominated most of the discussion.

***

Midbits (same as ‘Tidbits’)
Midbits: Not a Dodgers fan but glad to see they brought up Cody Bellinger…Anxious to see what he can do…Well not see—since I can’t see the Dodgers—but hear…I’m anxious to hear and read about how Bellinger does.

Midbits: I was 27 once…At 27 we’re capable of making stupid decisions. Either as a single man, a married man with a kid or as one of MLB’s top pitchers with three World Series titles…Madison Bumgarner has been so good it’s been easy to forget he’s 27…But good for him, he’s owned the mistake and will go on from there.

Midbits: Do people like Adrian Peterson?

Midbits: Oh, I’ve always been an Eric Thames fan.

Midbits: I never thought I would admit to being completely bored with the NFL Draft…But I am…Maybe it’s because the Rams are going to pick 37th…I must admit, I do feel good that they’ll avoid taking a bust left tackle with the second overall choice.

The Dude abides…

ikr? I don’t think SF will do much in the Del Rio but who do you think will?

Santa Fe recruiting is an absolute joke, this upcoming senior class went 10-0 as freshmen and have had fairly successful stints the last couple of years at Santa Fe. Horrible for a talented group of kids to have to see someone recruited come in and take their spot because SF wants to do things the way they did it a decade ago. They just love to recruit with Romeo Pellum on board… I hope every team in the Del Rio smacks them around.

both social media accounts are similar. SF just seems to be trying to copy cat LM. not saying that LM doesn’t do a good job of getting kids to the next level, but claiming that LM doesn’t blatantly recruit kids is a pretty audacious statement in itself.

everyone does it on some level, the power-less CIF doesn’t seem to do much about it, so hats off to those that recruit effectively. I’m just saying ER will take SF next season despite all the recruiting.

SF is blatantly going out and recruiting kids while LM used social media and the fact they get kids to the next level (case in point, 12 NLI’s signed this year) to attract kids to LM. Big difference.

Interesting to see how ER and SF do this year. ER seems to be up and coming and SF keeps trying to be like LM w/ recruiting. I’ll take ER over SF in the Del Rio this upcoming season.

The one thing I do hear from El Rancho insiders though I have not seen it for myself, is they say the Dons have some of the most talented big men in the league.

I know the QB was at ER then I heard he was back at Cal, whatever the case is he’s got a stacked line and a couple of stud RB’s at ER if he wants to compete for a starting spot.

    @Anonymous,

Per my sources the RB transferred to La serna and the QB & WR transferred to El Rancho.

Everything not just the draft used to be better in pro football. I recall in the late 60’s driving to Bakersfield with a carload of buddies just to watch a Ram game that was blacked out in LA. The motel was packed with people doing the same thing. Motel room doors wide open and a Ram fan party in every one. Ah the good old days. The next week off to Nam. That was a draft!

There has been movement in high school football but parents and coaches have gotten smarter. Less publicity and blog talk is better, specially when things don’t work out. You will have players going back to their local schools this summer because of coaching upgrades back at home. Some local HC’s are head and shoulders above those high priced ones at privates. Now when local admins can take back control of the classrooms at public school then you really have something excellent. There are transfers but if mom and dad want it quiet who am I to spill the beans?

Actually Walnut does just fine in their league with the exception of football. They can wear it.

Actually there needs to be less fouls allowed per player so that the game gets cleaned up. More ejections.
