(Rosemead) – In what was maybe the worst kept secret in the valley Matt Castaneda was named the new head coach at Rosemead multiple sources confirmed late Wednesday.
Castaneda was tabbed a couple of weeks ago but was approved by the school board Wednesday night. Castaneda played his high school football as a quarterback at Los Altos and also played at Whittier College.
He was the offensive coordinator at Rosemead for the last two years and was an assistant at Temple City for one year. Most recently he had accepted a position as the OC at Glendale College but left for the Rosemead job.
Castaneda takes over for Marc Paramo who stepped down in March after five years. The Panthers went 2-8 last season and missed the playoffs.
