Schurr has Enough to Beat Cal

By Billy Baroo

(Whittier) – Schurr started slow but did just enough to hold off host California 21-14 Friday night in the 2017 opener.

Miguel Aquero threw three touchdown passes and finished 17 of 28 for 300 yards. He also rushed for 48 yards.

Lance Babb caught a touchdown pass and had 11 catches for  200 yards. Jeremiah Hartfield and Aaron Silva each had touchdown receptions. Francisco Remigio had 60 yards receiving on the night.

Next week Schurr will host Garfield, a 39-36 winner over Montebello, while Cal travel to Mayfair to take on the Monsoons.

An ugly win yes. Neither is Schurr overrated nor is cal underrated! Both teams played tough and one team made more plays than the other to win the game. I’m sure will do well the rest of the season and so will Schurr

So is Schurr overrated or is Cal underrated? Because it seemed like Cal was supposed to be blown out according to everyone?
