The TEN: 8/24/17

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1.) Gary Sanchez

2.) “Hey everybody! We gotta cancel this Mayweather-McGregor thing because get this! I just found out they’re gonna FIGHT!”—Dennis Miller

3.) Covina RB, sophomore, Eric Cuellar.

4.) Former New York Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson has homered three times since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

5.) Jay Cutler goes 5-for-8 for 105 yards, a touchdown in his Miami Dolphins debut.

6.) Yahoo Sports: “2 Chicago Bars Say They Won’t Show NFL Games in Support of Kaepernick”

7.) Los Angeles Angels with team batting average of .244 and a team ERA of 4.11 are 65-63 and a half game out of the AL’s second wildcard spot.

8.) On this date in 2010, Taj Teague transferred from Pomona to Claremont.

9.) “Sometimes the assistants make the program and tge head coaches get the credit. I’m not saying those coaches were bad, but they surely were not the reason mtown was great those years. It was the assistants. Some are still there now. All those coaches knew this thats why they never brought in their own guys. I wouldn’t expect a reporter to know this or the other inside things.”—MVS commenter “Mtown”

10.) Crescenta Valley wins in Florida on Thursday night defeating Collier (Naples, FL), 34-31.

Pasadena football made big strides on offense. Visited Buena Park last night and a couple turnovers in the red zone cost them the win

No one is saying Maddox was a bad Coach. However under Garrison the best players were leaving. Several parents and assistants banned together on a campaign to keep thier kids home. If that had not happened, there would been no talent for Maddox to win with. Frazier, Walsh, Bryant, Craft, McCarthy and others could have easily went elsewhere, but were convinced to stay together at home. Later, Ainsworth, came back. Then Scooby-Doo. Don’t tell me that a certain group of people didn’t make it happen. Look at Muir, coaches left or were let go and Alemany cleaned up. These are facts.

The Sanchez incident is the best thing that could happen to baseball, a sport that has proven to be the most potent sleep aid available without a prescription. The league needs to choreograph this kind of thing into every game, with a guaranteed number of punches landed per contest. Perhaps fireworks and bikini wrestling during the 7th-inning stretch might help too, or as Dennis Miller once suggested: play a football game in the unused outfield area, so we have something to watch while waiting for the ball to get hit.

I wouldn’t expect an insider to be honest about what is going on at Mtown. Hangers on (assistants) have been polluting the side lines and interfering with the HC’s for a long time at Monrovia. They love to take the credit for wins then blame the HC for losses. Watch how fast these insiders jump ship and blame the HC when Burbank beats them.
