The hallmark of a “good team” is a good defense, so with Whittier and Montebello showing nothing of the sort, you can rest assured what you saw last night were two bad teams.

Surrounding area. Lol…. He’s been pretty amazing for the last few years. All the people on here talk crap and their schools are straight garbage. Those are the ones I’m referring to…

“He’s the most consistent coach next to the guy at Arroyo in our whole area. No one is even close. Let’s just be real and say you haters have zero clue… wake up”

Your kidding right? When you say whole area you must be talking about just the city of Montebello and El Monte? And please define consistent for us.

@ON: No need to get so sensitive about your team. To answer your question, no it is not a must for someone on this site to accurately rate a teams performance. Do you have to be an actor to know if you like a movie. Must you be a chef to know if the food is good? Are you a loser because you critique a coach?Plus, unless you publish your name and address everyone on here is incognito. When you make a full throated support of your team on here expect to get your feelers hurt. That is the lay of the land on the MVS. Feel good that your team won and I’m guessing your sons team won and keep being positive.

    lol!!

All the football experts that obviously never played the game. All I can say is that we played poorly and still easily won. You guys fail to mention that this is a very young team with kids filling rolls for the first time. Inconsistency will definitely be seen from time to time.
You pathetic losers hide behind your screen and take shots at our coach. Look around stupid people. He’s the most consistent coach next to the guy at Arroyo in our whole area. No one is even close. Let’s just be real and say you haters have zero clue… wake up

An uptempo style of offense is exactly what Montebello runs.

Not sure if I saw two good teams or two bad teams. Both defensively porous and mistake prone. Somewhat disappointed in the Oiler preparedness and Whittier’s tackling seemed non existent at times. If these teams played 10 times it would end up 5-5.

Everyone likes these ‘one for the ages’ comebacks, but NO TEAM should ever have to huff and puff to brush away Whittier, a team of unquestioned incompetence, a program that should be tossed, along with Pioneer, into the fire which is the upcoming 605 league. The explanation for last night’s mighty struggle was Visko Anchich’s familiarity with the St. Paul way of doing things, which is of course how Montebello rolls with Pete at the wheel. It never crossed Gonzalez’s mind that he is free to run a more contemporary, up-tempo style of offense, or to find some better defensive schemes to meet the challenges of football after the nineteen sixties. The man is a dinosaur, and long-time Oiler faithful must wait for his extinction, which won’t come until the guy’s administrative buddies also dissolve into the dust.

Need to rally to beat a bad Whittier team? The question isn’t “if” but how overrated is Montebello?
