Mid Valley Writers Top 20

Not much movement in the Top 5. Everybody won except Cathedral who fell to Loyola, which is nothing to hang your head about. Several changes in the lower half as San Marino, Warren, Covina, South El Monte and El Rancho are all new to the Top 20.

1. Sierra Canyon (3-1) – Jumps into the top spot with big win over Taft.

2. Cathedral (3-1) – Phantoms lose first of the year to Loyola.

3. Charter Oak (4-0) – Chargers impressive in easy win over Damien.

4. Crescenta Valley (3-0) -Falcons almost hit 60 in rout of La Canada.

5. St. Francis (3-0) – Darius Perrantes is worth the price of admission.

6. Downey (3-1) – Offense explodes for 56 in win over San Pedro.

7. La Serna (2-2) – Lancers fell but stand pat with opponent being St. Francis.

8. Arroyo (4-0)- C’mon it was Rowland! C’mon it was 49-0!

9. Glendora (2-2) – Tartans move up with big win over Los Altos.

10. South Hills (2-0) – Huskies have huge game this week at Charter Oak.

11. Mayfair (3-1) – Monsoons get La Mirada this week to kick off Suburban.

12. Los Altos (3-1) – Conqs switch places with Glendora.

13. Schurr (3-1) – Nice bounce back for Spartans in blow out of West Covina.

14. San Marino (3-1) – Right now Titans are the best team in the Rio Hondo.

15. Warren (3-1) – Raul Lara has the Bears on a roll.

16. Northview (2-2) – Vikes fall with loss to Don Lugo.

17. Covina (3-1) – Colts make the leap with third straight victory.

18. Maranatha (4-0) So far so perfect for Minutemen.

19. South El Monte (4-0) – Eagles can’t be ignored after fourth straight victory.

20. El Rancho (2-2) – Dons creep in with rout of Montebello.

Make it rain is a funny guy. Click bait lmfao
Arroyo will have 50 by halftime.
Rosemead vs Marshall could be interesting. Marshall actually won last year. Can Rosemead rebound after a tough preseason? Can Rosemead throw the ball at all? Is Marshall finally ready to compete year in and year out?

Is Mt View real or not? Is SEM real or not? Arthur Flores is currently second in the Sgv in yardage with 700+ yards rushing, can the Eagles defense answer the challenge? Currently Sal Tovar is only averaging 14.5 carries a game roughly half of what he should be getting if you ask me and still putting up nice numbers, can the Vikings keep him under 100? Speaking of The Vikings defense it is much improved can they slow the Eagle attack down? can the Viking offense chew up enough clock to put the Eagles in panic mode?

    Rosemead beats Marshall 17-14
    SEM Beats MTV 34-21
    Arroyo wins 50-7 over Gab!

@ Just A Thought : I did not address MakeItRain’s comment because I could not stop laughing long enough to do so.

@Husky1 : Nope. Nada, That’s a negative Ghost Rider…the pattern is full. Admire your loyalty to your team though. I believe this is Big Lou’s last rodeo. The team wants to send him out in style.

(They’re both bad predictions, of course)

WELL WELL WELL So Cathedral finally plays a team that can punch back and they folded. Hows that Sophmore sensation looking now? Andrew Tovar the kid you guys ran off never choked that bad. Heres a lesson in bad habits…One holding on to the football longer than you have to is bad, and it hurts! Can the kid read a defense? Time after time the qb is juking and jiving hoping to throw the ball 50 yards downfield instead of a simple check down . Pee you dunce run the ball clown. Is it true the daddy Young has a verbal understanding that Bryce gets to throw the ball 75 percent of the snaps? Pee you slime you got outworked and outcoached again…. question for you bro, have you ever won a meaningful game in your life? Last question Genius Pee, Do you think Young stays around after you get walloped in the first round and realizes the head coach cant get him any further? lmfao

Cypress killed us last year. Hope our boys come out and rep!well. Medrano Setlich and staff are not letting our boys slip up at practice but the have to play! A lot of players have stepped up to the competition but we need more. No disrespect to Montebello or BG but the teams we’ve beaten are not as good as the competition we’all see in league and in playoffs. Cypress La Serna Santa Fe Cal and Whittier aren’t playing around!

The top 20 should be changed to the top 10, the bottom 10 teams are just a shot in the dark based on who has won their games last 1-2 weeks regardless of their opponents

No shame in losing to Loyola whatsoever. My only critique is this the first real test and they failed miserably. Team wise and from the Qb. From what I hear half of his yards were on the final drive of the game when the had already been decided. Point is offers can and will be pulled if these performances continue. Only problem is the next true test is the last game the season vs St Francis. What a shame

One thing is pretty clear: Teams that have lost good coaches are having or going to have trouble continuing their successes. Teams that managed to find a good experienced head coach are slowly and methodically turning things for the better. Struggling teams that lost good coaches: West Covina, Chino, Bonita,La Serna, La Mirada, Bassett,Monrovia,Diamond Bar. On the rise; Bell Gardens, Don Lugo, Warren, El Monte, El Rancho, South El Monte. IMO

All this talk about Cathedral’s QB being amazing, yet the Phantoms got only seven points versus Loyola. Loyola would get slaughtered by Mater Dei, Bosco or Corona Centennial, so what would happen if the purples ones tried to score against those behemoths?
Sad but true, Cathedral is the poor man’s private, and a pitiful one it is, replete with loud and delusional supporters, all going nowhere at warp speed.
