Matthew Chavez runs through and over the Los Altos Conquerors.

(Hacienda Heights) The Charter Oak Chargers traveled south to Hacienda Heights to take on the Los Altos Conquerors in Hacienda League action. An early 7-0 by the Conquerors was quickly erased and the Chargers routed Los Altos 39-7 Friday night.

Los Altos’ early lead came on a 19-yard pass from Cody Olmos to Keith Anderson. Anderson caught the ball in the flat and worked his way into the endzone. Alex Medina booted through the extra point with 10:24 left in the first quarter.

After that it was all Charter Oak.

The Chargers only needed one play to answer the Conqueror touchdown when Jalen Palacios found and open Isaiah Hamiliton who out raced the Los Altos defenders to paydirt. The extra point was blocked and the Conquerors held on to a 7-6 advantage.

Jalen Palacios was on the money three times for scores with his receivers.

Just under four minutes later the Chargers were in the endzone again on a six yard run by Jermaine Braddock. The score was set up by a Hamilton interception of Olmos at his own 40 and returned to the Los Altos 48. The extra point was missed again but Charter Oak had their first lead.

With only a couple minutes gone in the second period the Chargers pushed their advantage to 18-7 on another Braddock touchdown run of seven yards.

Four minutes later Matthew Chavez got loose on a 33-yard run. This time Gabriel Trujillo nailed the extra point and the rout was on. Chavez carried the ball 23 times for 200 yards and a lone score.

Los Altos got virtually no traction for the rest of the evening. The Conquerors were held to negative yards on the ground and a mere 61 through the air.

Hamilton got his second score of the evening winding his way through the Los Altos defense on a 43-yard catch and run from Palacios. Hamilton hauled in seven passes for 128-yards and the two scores.

Palacios had a big night for the Chargers hitting on 23 of 30 passes for 280 yards and three scores. Two different times Palacios connected on eight consecutive passes.

Braddock finished up the score for Charter Oak with a 12 yard pass from Palacios. Braddock also caught seven passes for 87 yards. His two touchdowns came on the ground.

With a firm grasp now on the Hacienda League, Charter Oak will travel to Walnut to take on the Mustangs.
