Comstock Corrals Colts: Northview Bests Covina, 42-28

(Covina)—Northview High School quarterback, Steven Comstock continued his dominant ways as the Vikings beat the host Covina Colts Friday evening at Covina District Field.

Comstock added some variety to his evening’s performance, rushing for 302 yards on 16 carries; scoring touchdowns of 1, 3, and 32-yards. Comstock also added a passing score, connecting with wideout Damion Thompson on an 88-yard touchdown strike.

In addition running Joseph Castillo, Jr. scored on touchdown runs of 52 and 68-yards. The remainder of the evening’s scoring was provided by kicker Brian Calderon, who converted all six of his point-after attempts. Northview improved their record to 5-2, 2-0 in Valle Vista league play.

Covina, 5-2, 1-1 in the Valle Vista league, was led by running back, Erik Cuellar. Cuellar gained 188 yards on 21 carries, scoring touchdowns of 1 and 74-yards. Additionally, running back Ailaoa Tauvao added a 2-yard touchdown run.

Covina also scored through the air, as quarterback Nin Burns II connected with wide receiver, Danny Urrea for a 10-yard connection The remainder of the Colt’s scoring was provided by kicker, Tristan Sprague, who converted on four of four PAT opportunities.

Northview’s next contest is scheduled for 10/20/17. The Vikings will travel to Rowland High School to battle the Raiders. Covina will host the Baldwin Park Braves on Thursday, 10/19/17. Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
