Lets look @ part of your post:
I hate the lakeside draw. I hate the way the bracket is set up as well. CIF didn’t do us any favors that’s for sure. If we do beat Lakeside, Rematch with Rancho Mirage!

You have got to be kidding! The voice in your writing makes you look like you are looking for any excuse. Quit being a whining little _itch! You are already in division 11, that 2/1 lower than you should be. Your team is the 2nd seed in Division 11. You ran the table in the MVL. The only thing that hurt your team this season is your own players. Like two years ago, with the forfeit. Where is that all CIF lineman that was there last year on offense and defense? Did you schedule the dance yet?

Look, I want the Knights to run the table. Go to the State Regional Bowl, and win! You know go to State Bowl and win! Maybe the Admin will allow you postpone the dance this year! LOL! Then maybe post the conversation between CIF and The AD (JS) about why they should be put down to Division 12 because their schedule is really weak. LMAO! Hey only 1 team on their schedule scored more against them than Mtn View. That was Covina in D-12.

    @Anonymous,
Pacifica gets in because they finished 2nd in there league and after Oxnard got DQ’d in there league on Saturday morning. It made a huge mess of things . Ayala finished 3rd which puts them 1 place ahead of Warren, and Monrovia won their league. So the division will take 1st place teams, 2nd place teams, 3rd place teams, then if warranted, AT large teams. I agree with you Warren should have got in.

Don’t be surprised next year or the following year Going to be major changes made to C.I.F They’re still going to be 13 divisions .Open division
( everybody from Trinity and Centennial) 16 teams then 3 private divisions Private #1 Cathedral St. Francis notre dame Etc. private #2 Saint Paul Aquinas Notre Dame riverside etc. private #3 Rio Hondo’s webb Pasadena poly etc.
Public schools 1-9 divisions Then you could have the even numbers of schools in each divisions . Their coaches in C.I.F Football committee both private and public Are trying to push for this. A 1-9 team going to the playoffs is a joke look at division six . 22 teams in the division how many at Large teens that division had wrong 3-7 4-6 got at large

I think you are thinking of the Cathedral QB when you say 5’10” and that makes no difference anyway. Camcho is at least 6’0″ and well rounded. Get your fact straight! Good luck to all the local teams.

Warren finished 6-4 (4th in one of the toughest leagues-SGVL) and didn’t get an at-large birth. How is that possible? Yet, Pacifica(Oxnard) gets in with a 2-8 record, Monrovia at 4-6 and Ayala at 5-5. Just doesn’t make sense…

Get Back Coach aka Chain Gang aka Assistant to the Assistant,
You don’t have to get defensive. It’s the Mid Valley Sports. Not the Mid Valley Judge. We all blog on here for the same reason. Jobs have nothing to do with it. If you were so busy you wouldn’t have come barking out once someone kicked the fence.
We finally agree on the same thing. Arroyo got hosed on the brackets. Tough break my man.
Sorry bud. I’m not a Cathedral guy. With my insight on all things MVL, I’m clearly a resident of El Monte.
Good luck with the playoffs. Make sure you keep everyone behind the lines.
Oh and Rancho Mirage is a one trick pony. Tell your pops Singy to load the box and dare them to throw.

Tovar best RB in the valley ?Come on ,I am not knocking the kid at all but Mr.Arroyo aka Fridayknights that is a homer call .Just cause a kid runs for massive yards like RB from Ganesha, doesn’t make him better than the running back from Amat ,charter oak,or even south hills .Until arroyo schedules a more difficult non-league ,it will always be seen as a Sierra vista,Azusa, covina,Baldwin park type of team .I am glad they are doing well for the valley but football fans know where they stand

Before we get into the playoff zone on Friday I’d like to post about the MVL awards.
    Qbs
    Ernesto Camacho Arroyo
    Steven Gomez
    RBs
    Sal Tovar SEM
    Steven Ocariz Arroyo
    Abel Cuevas EMHS
    WRs
    Rey Cotero Arroyo
    Andrew Lechuga Arroyo
    Campbell RHS
    Defense
    Manuel Santana!!! Arroyo
    MVP tough sooo tough
I’m calling Co MVPs Ernesto Camacho and Sal Tovar. Camacho is top Qb in the area and leads an undefeated team to another deep run. Tovar himself is probably the best back in the valley but he dominates on defense as well. Both great players… Co MVPs

It’s time to scrap this Playoff equity crap. Releaguing equity makes more sense. When releaguing happens every 4 years put teams in Leagues within the division that you think they should be in at the same time stay geographically close as possible. For instance if the Rio Hondo was a division 8 League you might have Monrovia, Arcadia Muir CV in the same league. D 13 might have a League have Pasadena Poly Rio Hondo Glendale and Hoover types in the same league. It would eliminate the walk through league deals that Monrovia and Arroyo has had for 9 out of 10 years and Glendale and Hoover losing by 50 points during League. Makes the League Season much more exciting and teams have to really earn their way in. Plus puts not so good teams in Leagues they have a chance to win a few games.

Let’s not forget Arroyo shouldn’t be ranked so high, they have a soft schedule and their QB is 5’10” on a good day lol

That’s a good draw for them. Don’t let Lakeside’s record fool you. They beat about 3 schools that’s went 0-10.

Good luck to Arroyo and all areas teams.

FridayKnight aka Get Back Coach aka Chain Gang aka Assistant to the Assistant has been quiet, hopefully he didn’t cut his typing finger moving the chains.

@State Champs, That’s a great way at looking at it. I love an underdog.
@San Dimas fan Thanks for the explanation, which raises another question. What happened to Buena Park after Anthony White left?

  22. November 7, 2017 - 3:02 pm | Permalink

CIF will *NEVER* reduce a division to less than 16 teams. They get 3/4 of the gate from all games. The only reason they have not gone from 13 divisions to 15 or 16 with all the schools out there is because they don’t have the refs to cover more games. If they had the refs for 20 divisions there would be 20 divisions.

    Small correction SoCal Bulldog:
Crespi (1-9), which went 0-6 in the Mission League and whose only win was back in August’s season opener over Sylmar, 13-0, was given an at-large berth to the playoffs because in Division 3, 16 of the 18 pool of teams make the postseason.

The two teams left out of the Division 3 playoffs were Serrano (2-8) and Buena Park (1-9). Interestingly, Serrano didn’t turn in an at-large application so it came down to Crespi or Buena Park for the last spot, and Crespi’s strength of schedule won out.

CIF head Rob Wigod would probably respond to criticisms of the Crespi fiasco by referencing the software decisions made by his computers, and claiming that the technology is not perfect, but it’s doing a pretty good job. I wonder how quick he would be to defend the same kind of technology installed in a self-driving car that has killed someone near and dear to him.

Because Crespi’s division is the AYSO.. everybody plays…

There are only two teams that didnt make it and they had horrible records too. One didnt even turn in the paperwork to be considered as at large.

So the real question is why did the CIF use a one size fits all 18 team playoff for what should be at best a 12 team affair. .. Maybe even 8..

Maybe it is to provide cannon fodder to the 1 and 2 ranks in the division for a walk over.

@ Rams Fan it’s because Division #1 Football only has 18 teams total in that division. Let’s hope that CIF get’s it right next year. The problem is nobody wants to move up to this division to play.

This sort of thing is inevitable under the new playoff system. And there are surely decent teams in the lower divisions who are done for the year. I have to say, I’ll be rooting for Crespi to go on a six game win streak and win a state title, just for the sake of absurdity.

How in the world does a 1 win team (Crespi) get into the playoffs? I don’t care if their 1 win came against the New England Patriots. That just shouldn’t happen.
