El Rancho – Bell Gardens to Serve as Charity Event for Military

(Pico Rivera) – El Rancho and Bell Gardens’ “Black and Blue Game” to be held on August 24, 2018 will also serve as a charity event for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Although the game isn’t being played for 6 months, donations are being taken now.

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides financial assistance to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations service members who lose their lives in the line of duty. The foundation also provides to severely wounded and hospitalized special operations personnel. It is one of the highest rated Military and Veterans charities.

The El Rancho Dons and Bell Gardens Lancers have played 38 times with Bell Gardens having a 21-17 edge in the rivalry. It is always a very hard-fought, hard hitting game by each team. Both schools come from very strong communities that take great pride in their football programs and each school have very successful alumni who make a difference in their communities.

    @realdemocrat1,

    I’m probably 98% sure that’s the case. At least that’s why they’re promoting it so early.

    But what’s wrong with that? This is the first time since that video that someone has actually done something positive and took action other than argue on social media or scream at a board meeting. There are a lot of people out there screaming for the firing of Salcido but Medrano has decided to do something positive with the negative exposure. I sure hope all of those people who have been offended because of the negative remarks about the military show their support of the military with their pockets.

    Why now? Does this have something to do with that Salcido character at El Rancho?

    I remember the 1988 classic double overtime win by BG 30-27. El Rancho greats Ralph Dela torre and Jeff Blanco VS Rudy Ramirez and Mike Gilliam.
