1. Two-time NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury who has played professionally for 22 years, including the last nine years in China, said he will retire on February 11 when the season ends for the Bejing Fly Dragons.

2. New England Patriot tight end Ron Gronkowski has been cleared from concussion protocol and is ready to play in the Super Bowl.

3. Blake Griffin had 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in his debut for Detroit as the Pistons beat the Memphis Grizzlies 104-102 Thursday night.

4. Former major league outfielder Oscar Gamble, who was known for his Afro which spilled out of his helmet, passed away Wednesday at the age of 68.

5. Number one ranked Villanova beat Creighton 98-78 Thursday night. The Wildcats 21-1 record is the best 22 game start in school history.

6. Temple City is 0-7 in the Rio Hondo League and 7-17 overall.

7. Blair Forward Desmond Washington is leading the Rio Hondo League in scoring averaging 30.7 points per game.

8. Mountain View is in first place in the MVL at 8-1. The Vikings are at El Monte (1-9 in league) Friday night.

9. On this date in 1970 LSU Guard Pete Maravich became the first player to score 3,000 points in college basketball.

10. The average cost for a ticket for the last five Super Bowls is $4,945.

    No way LiAngelo would be so lucky to have a career like Marbury in China. If he can do what half of Marbury accomplished, it should be considered a success.

    After the Ball brothers finish their sideshow in Lithuania, and it becomes crystal clear that no NBA team is stupid enough to take Li Angelo, he can pack this middle son off to China for a Marbury-like professional stint. If that fails, I hear there’s a new league being formed on Mars.
